From Arusha back to Nairobi

Wednesday, 22 June 2011

Doing my research in the Serengeti didn't work out, so I've headed to Kenya to work at the Mpala Research Centre.  (Check out mpala.org for more info on where I'll be living and working for the next month and a half.)

Today was my long shuttle trip from Arusha to Nairobi (it felt like a deja vu :).  Elvis met me at the hotel to see me off and say "goodbye."  I was sad to part with my friend... I really hope we'll get to hang out again someday.

The dusty roads:

Some views out my window:

As a parting gift, Elvis gave me the bracelet he wore on his cycling journey across Africa.  (It's the green-and-blue bracelet.)  It was a really great gift that meant a lot to me.

My neighbors in the shuttle who didn't mind having their picture taken.  That little boy was so well-behaved on such a long and bumpy journey!

More scenery:

A striking sunset to end the day:
